Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us via hello@berksfizz.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question here!

No! No prior experience or knowledge is required, and our events are designed to be fun and informal. We give lots of info and some interesting stories about the world of wine, so those with some previous knowledge will find lots of points of interest too

Berks Fizz is owned and run by Natasha and Ollie – you can find out about our experience and qualifications on our ‘About Us’ page. Every wine tasting event and vineyard tour is led by either one (or sometimes both!) of us, and never anyone else.

Our events are designed to be fun and relaxed, but we also aim to give you some new information to take away with you to enhance your future enjoyment of wine. Each of our events is built around a theme, and we’ll begin by introducing the key points that will link together all the wines in the ‘flight’, with an accompanying presentation of helpful maps and photos.

During the tasting of our first wine, we’ll also provide you with a methodical approach to tasting wine – a little mental checklist of things to think about – to help demystify wine tasting and to give you the confidence to independently assess wines you try.

We’ll then taste through each wine (a flight of six, unless otherwise stated) together and chat about each, and we’ll tell you a bit more about the story behind each one as we go.

During our events we usually try each wine ‘blind’ – this just means we don’t reveal what we’re tasting until after we’ve tried it. It’s not a test! Often we can be influenced by labels, by past experiences and certain preconceptions, and we find tasting ‘blind’ allows us to be objective, and have a unique and honest moment with what is in the glass in our hand.

The wines will always be very varied across the theme of the tasting, showing a wide range of styles within the topic of each particular event. We use a wide range of suppliers to give us the best possible range to choose from.

No! We are not wine retailers, and our events are not designed to promote any wines for sale. We select the wines for tastings purely on their merit, and because we find them fascinating, interesting or good examples of a style we want to show.

After each event we’ll email you a list of everything we tried and where we sourced them, should you want to buy them for yourself.

On our vineyard tours there are of course wines from the vineyard available to buy should you wish to take any home.

Yes! Lots of people often come alone. We taste and chat about the wines together as a group, which makes for a welcoming and inclusive environment – and a fun way to meet new people too.

Yes! If you have a group of work colleagues or friends, we can deliver any of our events at your workplace, or at one of our existing venues – or we can offer a private group vineyard tour. Just get in touch!

Sure! If you have a venue and would like to run some wine tasting events for your customers, please do get in touch.

Our vineyard tours begin with a bit of the history of the vineyard and of English wine in general. We then take a stroll around the vineyard to understand more about the climate, weather, soil, grape varieties, and the choices that are made in terms of working practices. Finally, we end with an explanation of the production method of ‘traditional method’ sparkling wine. Throughout the tour we sample a range of the vineyard’s wines, and with the first sample we’ll provide you with a methodical approach to tasting wine - a little mental checklist of things to think about to give you the confidence to independently assess wines you try.

We have a dry indoor space to start and end our tour, but we do go for a walk round the vineyard whatever the weather! So bring raincoats and wellies, or sun cream as appropriate, and we always recommend sensible footwear as these are working farms.

We usually cap our group sizes at 24, and can run with a minimum of 8-10. On occasions we do hold one-off events at larger venues with slightly more capacity.

Yes! We have gift vouchers available online, or contact us if you need something more specific.

Please visit our terms and conditions page for our full booking terms.

In short, if we have more than four weeks notice we can issue a full refund or credit for a future event. If we have between two and four weeks notice we can issue a credit, transfer your booking to another event, or you may send a substitute in your place - and if less than two weeks notice, you may send a substitute in your place but unfortunately we can no longer issue refunds, transfers and credits.
